    Default Help

I had my yak and fish finder stolen a few weeks ago. Buddy of mine let me borrow his until I can get another. I’ve gotten another fish finder. My question is is there any way to mount the transducer without drilling holes? Since it’s not my yak I’m not gonna do any drilling on it. I’m gonna mount the unit on an ammo box that holds the battery for now. But can figure how to do the transducer.

Is there anywhere you could use a clamp to hold an arm or bracket? Are there existing holes in kayak or a rail mount? Its pricey but there is a magnet system for holding transducers you might could search out.

I attached one to a bracket mounted in the holes meant to mount the optional skeg

There’s no tracking system or holes. I’ll have to check on that.

I've got an ammo box with a PVC arm that swings up and down, it you need it let me know. I only use it on my small yak and lately I haven't been using the fish finder since I'm fishing close to the house.

I bought a small water tight box with a hinged lid in the camping section @ WaMa, then cut the floor out of the box to match the contour of the bottom of my boat under the seat of my kayak (sit inside Wilderness Systems Pungo 120). I tested it with putty to make sure it would work. After a successful test run, I cleaned all surfaces good with rubbing alcohol, then mounted the box to the floor with liquid-tight marine grade GOOP, so the box holds just enough water to submerge the transducer. My transducer shoots straight through the hull right under the seat. The transducer can't drag, get snagged, or abraded by anything. It is 100% protected full time. I ran the wires under the lip of the deck and enclosed them in wire loom. The only down side is that I lost a little storage space under the seat. I have the boat loaded up ready to fish tomorrow, or I'd shoot some pictures to share. The battery is in a box behind the seat, out of the way. I will take some shots tomorrow to add to this description so it makes more sense. I hope this helps.
