Please let us know how you like it. I can’t handle any size kayak anymore so this might be something I could use. We have a man made lake near my house with very limited bank fishing opportunities, but with something like this I could get to very lightly fished water. Cumberland seems to be a real popular brand.

Thank you everyone. As soon as it warms up a bit, I'll be in it and on the water. Looking into getting a self-powered fish finder mount designed for float tubes. Like to know what's around as far as structure, fish and water temp...

I had (passed) a friend that used a float tube. I helped him rig it with a fish finder and with a trolling motor. He wasn't in good health but I tried to help him fish as long as he had the want-to. You can get a small battery that will run any fish finder you want to use, check this one out. I'm going to this battery when I have to replace mine. Have a couple of friends that is using this one with no problems at all running their units all day.

Those Nocqua batteries are pretty good. My buddy has several and I know others that run these as well. Perfect for kayak use. Also you can take a drill battery and use it for fish finder.

Thank you both for the option. II had been looking at the 5AH strap on set-up from fishfinders.com. A bit more pricey, but all you have to add is a fishfinder upto a 5".

I started tubing in the early 1990’s — very fun and relaxing way to fish. I never “tricked out” my tube: no sonar, no rod holders — nothing. I wanted it to be light and quick to set up.

    I don’t understand using a trolling motor.

Why not use swim fins? Also, I wouldn’t want that blade spinning anywhere near me.

Bill had diabetes and his legs were in bad shape but he wanted to fish the smaller ponds so that was the only reason for the motor on it.

I want to amend my previous statement. At one time, I had a small, portable fish finder on the tube ... and I removed it. I also had a rod holder on it ... and I removed it.

For me, everything I added to the tube was more trouble than it was worth. You don't have much space in a tube, so less is definitely more.

When I tubed, I took the following (in addition to waders and fins): two rods, a handful of baits, water, some snacks, and a life jacket. I fished ponds from a couple of acres up to 100 acres and never felt like I needed anything else.

That's my take on it. YMMV
