Yeah mine is 10. And Dave is right. That seat that comes on the tamarack will kill you in no time. And I agree with him that if I didn’t already have it I’d probably go for the Teton.

That’s for sure. The newer higher mount seats that get your butt out of the water are really nice. That would add a lot of enjoyment to my kayak. If I ever get my transportation issues (old guy and just can’t lift anymore) sorted out I would get one for my Malibu mini x. It would open up a ton of water around my area.

I would recommend an used vibe seaghost 130. it is 13' long, 33" wide and 500lb load. New one costs $999 without paddle.

Any of y'all know much about the Ascend FS10? Looks like the weight limit is 300 or 325, can't quite remember. I've seen a couple of those for sale. They are a sit in but looks like it has a decent seat.

Keep an eye on forums and Facebook Marketplace for used kayaks. I picked up a Kaku Wahoo 10.5 for my son last March for $500. I'm probably gonna sell it if I buy the boat I'm looking at.

Unfortunately a quality new Kayak would run you at least $800. You can get a Vibe Seaghost 110 for that price.

I also have a Vibe Seaghost 110 and really like the way it handles and it's setup great for fishing. My son is 6'3" 240# and has both the 130 and 110. Uses the 130 in the ocean and the 110 in lakes and rivers. Vibe Kayaks Owners group or any kayak group on Facebook is a good place to look for used.

Keep your eye on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace for used kayaks. Wilderness Systems have some nice sit on top models. Don't buy a sit in because it's too hard to get out of. YouTube has all kinds of great videos to check out for rigging a kayak for fishing.

There is a Kayak store in Hartselle on the west side of downtown right on hwy 36. Not sure what all brands they carry. Might could look them up on the FB. I think it’s call The Kayak store. Would be able to get your hands on a few to kick a tire so to speak.

I don't have a ascend fs'10 but I have a 12' and mine is sit in also. When I started searching the sit in or sit on top debate made me keep searching for a sit on top because that seems to be everyone's preference. Well unless you spend more for a decent sit on top, I would buy a sit in if you are on a budget. I have a 12' pedal pescador and my 12' ascend, and I would choose to fish in my ascend all day long. The seat is pretty dang nice and with a little know how, u can mount a trolling motor on it. I did and will never look back. If you can find a used ascend fs12', I'd give 450 for it all day long.
