    curious, if anyone tows their boat with a Subaru Outback, i have an 2018 and tow a bare 14ft aluminum smokercraft. i would like to get a 16ft modified v flat bottom jon boat style, wonder if the outback would tow it,

    Specs say it will tow 2700 pounds. I seriously doubt that a 16' Jon with motor, batteries etc - would come anywhere near that.

    That being said, my Nissan Frontier has a tow capacity of 6700 pounds. I towed a trailer that was about 4000 pounds, and it scared the begeebers out of me. It waggled me in the wind and took a long distance to get it stopped. For short distances around town (not getting on a limited access highway) it was OK.

    Sorry i didn't see this tread earlier.
    I had a 2013 Subaru Outback and towed a Alumacraft Competitor 165 CS for two seasons. The boat package with gear, and full load of fuel weighed 2111 lbs. It actually towed pretty good. We generally only towed 50 to 60 miles to lakes locally with not many hills. I wouldn't want to that heavy of a boat for many years, but what you are looking to tow behind yours wouldn't be a problem at all. Happy fishin!
