    Default Jackson Cuda HD

Picked up a nice kayak in March its a Jackson Cuda HD I got it off a guy who sold it to me for $400 .I have fished out of a few times . I love it it handles great and it is stable enough to stand. But do to back injury that has left me in pretty bad shape I can not lift it into the back of my truck or paddle very long. So instead of getting rid of it I have decided to build a trailer for it and put a trolling motor on it. Just got everything done all but register it with the state which I hope to be handling that tomorrow or Monday then more time to fish.. Name: IMG_0822.jpg

Great deal! Where did you find the plans to make those modifications? I’m especially interested in how you modified the trolling motor.

Nice! You did get a great deal on that kayak. Will be anxious to hear a report when you get it out on the water.

I am on a Facebook page called " DIY kayak rigging " also ,YouTube videos plus looking at set ups on Pinterest ,and from there just went with it.. My kayak had a place for a micro pole and it had the rudder system in so what I did was used a plastic cutting board..Cut out to pieces from it glued them together with JB weld and then shaped it to fit the spot for the Micro pole..Once I got that to fit right I tore down the trolling motor.. So all I had left was the motor mount, cut off the section the connects the motor to your transom..just the part that has the screws in made sure I had a nice flat surface.. Drilled two Holes in the bracket ,and one on the back of the bracket ,and mounted it to the cutting board piece. I made tested it by putting on all my weight on the back end of the bracket it held me.

then after that just cut the shaft down by 6 inches. Removed the spring and catch that allows you to raise and lower the motor so that I could use the system they had to raise and lower the rudder all I had to do was add a pulley so it was easier .From there got a 3/4 inch pvc 90 heat it up a formed it over the shaft once cooled feed my wires through and thats it..Now I am using a PWM to control my speed instead of the switch that came with it but you could just extend them wires and use it..
