    Default Boat Paddle

I need to purchase a boat paddle. Can anyone help with a formula for determining proper paddle length? I only want one (1) paddle in case my motor fails. Besides it is the rule here in Pennsylvania and I think elsewhere also. Thanks, Pop

What type of boat do you fish from?

I would hate to have to paddle my boat anywhere. As for lenght of paddle formulas go. Those are geared toward canoe and kayaks. I prefer a longer paddle than the charts say for both canoes and kayaks

What I was going to say was from where he would be setting measure over the side at a angle that would be comfortable for him to where the the water line would be and add enough length to get a good bite in the water.

If there was a high possibility that I may have to paddle a boat for any distance I would find some oars and oar locks. I have made both oars and paddles.
