    Default Which one you pick

I am looking for a kayak for my son's 14th birthday. He is a fairly accomplished fisherman for his age. Price point wise I am torn between two.

Lifetime. Tamarak from Walmart at 235$. Seat seems kinda minimal at best and there is no track system. I am sure he will want to spider rig some. There is two ports for dry storage.

Lifetime Teton exclusive to Dicks and field & stream. 335$. Seat is a stadium and adjustable. It doesn't have any ports but it does have a track system.

Wouldn't have a problem spending the saved 100$ to mod the Tamarack.

Anybody have any experience with these. Your opions are appreciated.

I have the tamarack. The seat needs upgrading for sure. Usually the stadium seat upgrade works ok. I have no experience with track system or spider rigging. I have laid my rods down or in rod holder and trolled to some degree with ok success. The tamarack of mine gets the occasional little bit of water inside but I never keep anything in there. My wife has the lifetime Tahoma which is same body as tamarack but minus the rod holders and extra hatch. Hers stays dry inside. If any particular questions feel free to ask. Hope that helps some.

Wow, I just looked up the Teton. I paid around $300 for mine and the Teton is $330 now at dicks. I would pick the Teton I believe. $30 extra bucks for a much nicer seat and track system. No brainer. See if there are any online reviews on it.

Yeah I really like the Teton. I showed my buddy that’s been looking at kayaks. Very affordable and nice for what you get.

i really like the track systems. There are so many options available. I specifically like being able to attach my driftmaster spider rig in it very quick and portable.

I really like my tamarac but if I didn’t have it already I’d have to go with the Teton.
