Default Fish Finder on A Kayak

OK, I pulled the trigger and bought myself a kayak, and plan on fishing a couple of local waters as well as slightly larger waters with-in an hour or so distance. While I have an older Fishfinder 250 I think it is, I was wanting to upgrade to something a bit more modern with side imaging. I am looking for suggestions. It will be ran off a small 12v/12AH battery in water from just off shore to less than 50' primarily. I am not really savvy on these so any and all help would be helpful. Thank you ahead of time. Oh yea, needs to be in the less than $500.00 range.

I’m happy with my Deeper Pro that I got for $139.95 last October. I can use it in a boat, from the bank or anywhere, and it’s very easy to use the app. It includes GPS and everything.

I also have an older Lowrance Elite 4 HDI, but I use this Deeper more often because it’s so easy to work with.

This unit seems legit and within your budget. It has 2d, DI, SI, GPS and US Inland Maps installed. Dang, looks like I may upgrade to this. Looks like Amazon knocked $100 off to boot:

The unit GPatt recommended looks like alot of fish finder for the money. The Garmin Strikers are pretty good units in the low end fish finders...around $100.

It’s a 3-inch round castable sending unit that has its own WiFi signal that you connect to, and the app on your phone shows what the lake bottom looks like, where the fish are, and its GPS signal lets you map the lake. Really easy and helpful!

I think I'm leaning a little more toward the traditional fish finders. It's like in that one video of the guy at the deep hole with the Scottish accent, when he reeled in it gave squiggly green lines as the sending unit was moving, (him reeling), I wouldn't want this to happen as the kayak would be moving, or anchored the wave action from the wind could cause the same miss readings...as well as another line in the water to contend with...
