    Default Canoe's

Lot of kayaks on here but don't see any canoe's. I have a 18' Coleman I've never used that I'm thinking of trying out. Have an old garbage trailer I made over to haul it on. This canoe sat a long time as when I got it it had some pretty bad split's in it. Finally figured out how to fix them and it's ready to go. Take the pup and she'll probably dump the thing on me! Lot more room in this than any kayak I've seen. Where do you carry stuff in a kayak fishing? Where do you keep the fish?

Most of the fishing kayaks have plenty of room for storage in the front and back but not as much as the canoes have plus, you do lose the ability to carry a fur buddy unless it is very trained to not move around. There are differently good and bad to each one and it comes down to preference. If there is any place around you that offers for you to try the kayaks out you may want to try them. You may be surprised, may not.

I still have an older 18’ Coleman canoe,as far as canoes go,it’s very stable. They can haul remarkable loads, and I’ve fished standing up in it,biggest problem for me is,it’s 18 ft long, which aides in its stability, but too much for my broken down body to handle.

I had a 15’ Grumman for a while and was comfortable in it. Thought that a few of the kayak goodies would make it easier to fish from, like an anchor trolley. I had a trailer and tied it in the back of the pu. Wanted the granddaughter to go with me buT she flat refused and I sold it. Had a TM on it too and really could stand the exercise , and they don’t come any tougher. Always worth a shot.

I had 2 Mohawk Intrepid 16' kayaks for years when my kids were growing up and now have kayaks and use my kayaks way more than what I did the canoes. I feel the hull designs on the kayaks (certain models) are more stable than a lot of canoes and I just enjoy my kayaks more. When solo paddling and fishing out of my canoes with people in kayaks they were able to run off and leave me and maneuver so much easier. Both have their place and both can be a lot of fun.

I just bought a new to me Mohawk Intrepid canoe. But I still have 2 kayaks too. Solo canoe (especially with a kayak paddle), is a great fishing vessel. A tandem canoe paddled solo with a canoe paddle is not a very good fishing vessel for most waters. Besides most "Fishing" kayaks resembled the old rob roy canoe design. Always use the most appropriate tool, both have their place.
