    Smile Looking at small Rigs

I have been looking for an inexpensive way to get off the bank and to areas I just can't get to other wise. I was looking at kayaks, but with a stiff back with L4 problems, I don't think I could maneuver very well. I thought about something like a bass raider plastic boat but wasn't completely happy with the thought of lifting it into the back of a pick-up. I looked around for a while, and ran across a fellows videos that used to be out of Springfield that has since moved up toward Sedalia, (I think), named Winkiedoodles. The first ones I seen him fishing out of a belly boat, but some he was using an inflatable pontoon boat with a swivel seat. Most of the time I would be fishing smaller waters where that would be just the ticket. I found one on Amazon called The Roanoke, that's around 8 to 81/2 ft long and will hold up to 350 lbs. It don't come with the swivel on the seat but one can be purchased separately and installed.
Now I know that it has a higher profile on the water and all. But I believe it is my best bet for me. I just can't beat the Amazon Prime rate of $168.00 incl. shipping and the oars that come with it. Oh yea, theirs also instructable videos on modifying it for a trolling motor, and a business or two that makes strap on mounts for fish finders...

That looks pretty interesting. Wonder how long it would take to inflate and deflate? I think you’d want to wear maybe waders or big boots too in case foot slips off pegs. I bet this weights very little. Cool...

Well waders at least, especially in the colder months. Recently purchased some Stocking foot waders, and have wading boots, (neoprene with rubber soles) on the way. Hopefully the Roanoke will be on the way 1st of the month and will be christine very soon their after...Looking at small Rigs

Looks pretty sweet. It said in video 45 lbs! Wow. I think you will have fun with this. Keep us updated on how you like it. I saw another video on YouTube on modifying it you might enjoy watching.

SuperDave336, I think it said 450 lbs, actually...lol but yes, I might have already seen it as I've been watching a lot of them, as When I'm not working on this trailer house, fishing, or playing at my fly tying vise I'm on you tube. Oh yea, there's always the puppies to play with, and of coarse I have cooking duties to take care of too. But I do get to watch, re-watch several a day...

The 45 lbs was the weight of the pontoon.....easy loading. Wow you sound busy, maybe I should try that pontoon out for you....

I need to correct some info in the first post. I stated that winkiedoodles moved to the Sedalia area, when in fact it was the Jefferson City area of Mo. My apologies...

I always say, try before you buy. Especially with your back issues. Pontoons are a bear on land (I've got a Outcast PAC 1100HD/Aire Bobcat). For loading and unloading I much prefer my tube (Fishcat LCS-4) that I use a kayak paddle for movement. Even so, if you are covering distances measured in yards vs feet, you are much better off in a kayak/canoe (I've had several and still have 4 different models). Keep in mind, if you had a trolling motor, unless on private waters, you will have to deal with registration, it might just be easier to deal with a 14' jon and use a trailer.

bfish, Thank you for the reply, and yes I had thought of the trailer part. Even to the point of removing the 18 hp from my aluminum boat, 14 footer. Only problem is the waters I would be using the inflatable in will not allow trailers into the water at all. Others have tried to bypass that and did it anyway and got caught and handed a fine for nearly 1000.00. No thank you. I like the idea of the inflatable as it can be broken down into smaller, lighter pieces to be moved. Maybe I can get the Dr off my tail with some exercise, Rowing as easy as I have to keep my back from screaming, loose some of this spare tire, and still get some fishing in all at the same time. We sure going to give it a shot anyway...Eric.
