I use the hook type. 3 lbs I think is standard for those.

You could also also use a dumbbell or the mushroom type. I would suggest adding an anchor trolley if you do a lot of anchoring it makes control easier to face into wind/current easier.

I have a couple. A small fluke-and-chain anchor for heavy jobs (never used), a 3 lb. folder like the above with chain topper (holds well but can get hung), and a 3' piece of heavy logging chain with some cut bicycle innertube over it to quiet it down. This one serves as a drag in shallow rivers, and is heavy enough to hold me still on lakes and ponds if there isn't much wind. I use it the most.

The window weights I would imagine works similar to what I have been using. I use a piece of pvc about 14-18 inches long filled with sakrete, capped off with an eye hook. Great for slowing my drift to a crawl but usually not keeping me in the same spot. This is why I want to get an anchor that will hold. Thanks for all replies. Pop

Keep in mind if using pronged anchor, the possibility of snagging is great.Google or utube anchors, there is. Proper way to connect the three prong collapsible anchors that help them tip for better holding ability, and a proper way to connect to allow a snagged anchor to release.
That said,my favorite anchor happens to be an 8lb industrial bolt.I welded a u- bolt to the very end of the threaded end,the wrench end of the bolt digs into most bottoms for good holding power.Ive never snagged this anchor, and it has lws held me in place.

    Double window weight or chain.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

Chain through the bottom eye and attached to rode then heavier fishing line attached to the top end eye so if snagged you yank and break line and itll pull up upside down...

This was in response to yakers post one below pops. I clicked wrong one..
