The idea is normally it pulls from the eye but if snagged with enough force it breaks the plastic strap and then pulls from the bottom of anchor which should free the anchor.

Yup,that is the correct way to set up an anchor of this style.

You use the smallest size you can and carry extra. They are easy enough to break if your hung by pulling back against it. There is a good video on YouTube showing this in slow motion because once the zip breaks if your pulling back it yanks the anchor free.

Yea I know how they work. I just wasnt sure of the zip tie. I always used 10lb mono...I may try it if it breaks easy enough

If the mono works for you then good. That’s probably cheaper to use. The zip tie’s are probably what most use and probably most aren’t having to break them all the time. I’ve yet to get hung up with mine. ( just jinxed myself didn’t I?)

I've only had it hung once. Why I tend to use the window weight more often. And let's hope not!

I never had an issue breaking the zipties, but I don't use huge ones. Don't use the little dinky ones either though, or they'd probably snap all the time.

If you get to really giving it a pull to break the tie, just make sure you're leaning in a way that you won't tip yourself over!
