Default Fish finder on sun dolphin 10ft--ideas needed

    Hello,
Anyone put a fish finder on a sun dolphin sit in? New to the site, searched some, haven't found any , yet. Like my cheap yak( for the limited time I get in it),but really need fish finder. Not much storage for battery and wondering how/ where to mount transducer. Not really wanting to do external flex arm thing for transducer, but need ideas: I'm stumped. Any members put a fish finder in a sit in sun dolphin & can you share any tips, pics and advise? Love this site!!Thank you.

Same yak same problem decided to try magnets, one inside the other on the outside with transducer. Mags have 60# resistance. They are in transit so I don't know how it will work.

Lou thanks for the reply. Let me know how it shakes out after testing? Wondering if magnet will effect signal of ff? What are you thinking for battery storage since there virtually is no storage in these yaks?Don't mind cutting/ modifying the yak to accommodate if need be. Again, thanks hope you get it solved.

    Lou,
Where you thinking of storing the battery since no real storage with these yaks? Back ity bitty hatch, push back the foam on either side of seat ( that's my primary within reach storage currently) , battery box in front of feet( don't know how'd you reach it, though), or strap battery box up front(or in back) on top?

Battery dimensions 6in long, 2.6in wide, 3.7in high, so there is no problem with storage.

I have a HB Helix 5 DI GPS that I mounted on a plastic "ammo can" from Harbor Freight. I use a 12V - 7AH gel cel battery inside the box, and mounted the transducer in a chunk of packing foam. The battery is charged with a 2Amp trickle charger. I use this set up in my 10' Jon boat, my canoe and even once in my belly-boat. The transducer trails nicely behind me while I am paddling or rowing. When I had a 16' Jon with an outboard, I could not use it at speed, but just threw the transducer overboard when I got into the area I was going to fish. Only once did I get the transducer caught up in the trolling motor prop and while the transducer fared well the prop did not. Easy and cheap fix. I can post pictures if you'd like.

    Lou,
Thanks for responce. With battery that size ,agreed you can stash it near anywhere. Good thinking & thank you. Still love to see pics once completed with transducer mounted.

    Clint,
Would love to see pic for ideas for my yak. Can invision ammo box as unit for battery & ff display. Love your ideas of transducer in foam trailing behind you. I presume this way would also allow DI/SI to function as opposed to mounting/gluing Inside the yak ? Great idea. Would absolutely love pics, if you can.

Thank you too both you gentleman for sharing your ideas Fish finder on sun dolphin 10ft--ideas needed. Truely appreciate it!!!

    Here are the pictures:
The first is the unit mounted on the "ammo box" - the second is the battery in the box and the last is the transducer tie-wrapped into a block of foam. Hope this helps.

Clint, thank you for the pics. I really like the set up. Your right this makes it really portable and can be done cheap. Plus the floating transducer would be out of the paddle's stroke path!! How do you like your HB Helix 5 DI: would you recommend? Again, appreciate your ideas and rigging.
