Hard to find any info on this 12' model, so after a 20% off sale at Dick's I decided to just get it and find out for myself what its like. At $250 there wasnt much risk.

Pros:

-price
-sturdy
-good initial stability. Not sure about secondary just yet
-decent speed once rolling
-good tracking
-feels light when carrying

Cons:

-sturdy, but does seem to scratch easily
-seat a little uncomfortable
-seems a little slow out of the gate until you get it going

To me, this boat feels just like the Quantum 124 only with a higher top speed. I like the Quantum, so I like this one as well. Speed compared to my Hobie Revo11, this one a tad slower. But this one doesnt need a rudder to track well. For $250 an absolute bargain.

Sorry for the late reply. I went with the outback over the Pro Angler to save weight. Its still heavier than other Kayakas I have owned but manageable for me and Im not spring chicken at 67.

Tracking is not the best but I have been in worse

It has a nice Stadium seat that is very comfortable. The back legs of the seat sit in a 1- 1/2 " channel. Lift up the back of the seat and a 2x4 fits perfect in it so I sit up higher.
I designed a transom that fits in the same channel and sticks out to the side. I attach my trolling motor and positioned my battery in a milk crate, on the opposite side for counter balance. It works great and no paddling until i get close to my fishing area.

Decent kayak and sounds like you’ve done a good job with it. That seat is worth gold!

Found a nice used FeelFree Lure 10 kayak that we gave our son (Layne) for his birthday in February and it has quickly become his favorite way to fish. (He likes the independence and adventure of calling his own shots and going after fish on his own.) Took just one or two trips for him to really get a feel for it and be comfortable on the water. Nice stable kayak and comfortable to fish out of for extended time on the water. Haven't had it out on the main body of the lake yet, just been staying back in the coves where it is more protected to give him more experience.

Ran across a good deal on a pair of used Jackson kayaks earlier this spring and finally got to pick them up last week. Both are 12', with the Kilroy being a sit-in model and the Cuda a sit-on for a little higher ride. Got both on the water yesterday just to try them out, but haven't fished out of them yet. Friends have a big black lab that liked going along for the ride in the open cockpit on the Kilroy. The Kilroy is set up to fish, but I need to get some rail mounts and accessories added to the Cuda now.

Got out on the water last weekend and had a chance to fish out of the Jackson Kilroy (sit in) kayak for the first time. Layne prefers his Feel Free where he sits up a little higher. I liked the feel of the Kilroy, though, especially with the high/low seat options. Didn't have a lot of gear out on the water, but did like that it could all be down inside the kayak. Didn't use the internal rod storage tubes, but can see where those would be convenient, too. Still have a lot to learn, but slowly getting all three kayaks set up like we want them.
