Hi, I really need advice, I want to give my old man a kayak. Currently, there are a huge number of different brands and models of fishing kayaks, it is very difficult to understand which one is best suited to the needs and price range, which will be more stable and convenient in a given situation. When searched for popular models, google show these. What can you say about them? are there any good variants?
    Thanks in advance

I would say you need to consider the seat as very important as this can make ones trip miserable or enjoyable. I have the tamarack and it is very budget friendly and served me well. I did upgrade several things with the seat being #1. I would suggest for a budget friendly kayak look at the lifetime teton kayak. My buddy has two, one for him and one for his wife. They have nice seats and won't break the bank. Very comparable to the lifetime tamarack. Look at link.

Thanks for advice, is tamarack comfortable for you? As for me the budget thing or premium is not important, the main thing is that it would meet all the necessary requirements

The tamarack is ok but the Native Titan is sooooooo much more enjoyable and comfortable. Different level of kayak all together. I would determine your budget and then go from there. The tamarack I could go 5-6 hrs maybe without absolutely having to get out and stretch. I can stand and move around in the Titan. I would seriously consider a used kayak. You can find a better kayak for beginner budget that would make experience much more enjoyable.

Spent my first hour in a Future Beach Quantum 124 Sit In today

    Pros:
    Inexpensive
    Durable plastic
    Good tracking
    Good initial and secondary stability
    Felt light to load/unload
    Nice glide

    Cons:
Accelerated and paddled nice, but top speed not gonna be there

Overall a decent 10ft sit-in for not a lot of money

    Perception Pescador 10 (2017 model)

    Pros:
    Decent tracking
    Nice glide
    Good speed for 10.6ft
Decent initial stability, good secondary stability
    Clearance price @ $350

    Cons:
Seat is hard and odd shaped
    A little heavy

My 2nd hour on the water today I spent with this sit-on-top. Compared to the Quantum from earlier, which is 2" shorter and 1" wider, the Pescador had slightly less initial stabilty and tracking, but better glide and speed. This is the older model that has the 29" width. New models have 32", which I didnt want.

The Quantum had a more comfortable seat, but both could use more padding for sure. The Quantum accelerated quicker, but its top speed leveled out slower than the Pescador.

The Pescador seemed to push some water from the bow. If I leaned back in the seat some it got better. It wasnt bad, but I'll probably use some ballast in the rear next time.

With scupper plugs under the seat and none anywhere else, it was a dry ride. The Quantum was as well. The Pescador was easy enough to load/unload, but the Quantum was easier. Both need more rigging for fishing.

If I was to compare the stability to my old OK Prowler 13, this Perception felt more stable.

I like both kayaks I paddled today.

Paddled the Quantum back to back with the Pelican Trailblazer 100 today.

the Pelican had less initial stabilty, would rock when paddled, but secondary still good. The Quantum more stable both initially and secondary.

The Quantum has better tracking. The Pelican better acceleration and better glide after a stroke.

The Pelican is roomier and slightly more comfortable.

Id choose the Pelican over the Future Beach except that I need a stable and straight moving kayak for running scanning sonar.

Hey tracker, I'm on the fence looking at this for my next yak. How's the weight, Pro or Con?
