I have a Sun Dolphin Journey 10. It came with an Attwood rod holder base between they legs. I replaced the base with a Scotty, bought an extension, a 3 rod holder base and 3 rod holders for $75. Looks like this. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Scotty-23...Mount/25461773

I've got two rod holders in front of the cockpit and two behind on my Pungo 120. I drift jigs out the front and pull a single crankbait out the back pretty successfully. If I try to run more than that, they tangle too often. I never tried pushing weighted lines, which would probably cut down on tangles.

I can't use rods longer than 7 feet in that kayak because it is difficult to untangle line around the rod tip.

I have a set of HiTek rod holders on my boat and used to move them to my old kayak. I would spider rig 4 rods at a time. I still have some work to do to mount them on my new to me kayak. Here are a couple of pictures of the way I had them mounted on my Wilderness Systems Ride 135. CallShy on the AL forum makes these and I really like them. Name: kayak spider rig.jpg

Ditch Basser on the AL forum is a pro at spider rigging from a kayak. He actually runs 6 rods on his kayak and has 2 sets of 3 rod HiTek rod holders.

Nice spider rigging set up and the Ride 135 is a great kayak, the only reason I got rid of my Ride 135 was the weight and me having some back issues.

I think I'm going to try this in my yak this year for a little closer to the water action than my big boat. Do you use a fish finder with this setup or just target key areas?

I use a fishfinder. I find it useful for seeing what depth I am in and for following contour lines. I am pretty new to this though.

Here's my setup. I use driftmasters on my big boat so wanted the same on my yak.

Yak is a Jackson Big Rig
1 crossbar with 4 driftmaster lil pro's mounted into track rails
helix 7 g2n that I'm going to share off the back of my big boat. (complete with saved waypoints!)

Just finished up this weekend so no water report yet.
