    Default Cajun secret pirogue

Has anyone made the Cajun secret pirogue before? I have the plans but haven't attempted to build the pirogue yet. Was wondering if anyone has yet.

I have not built one. Heck I didn't even know what it looked like until I looked it up. I found it on a wooden boat site. Nice looking little boat. The guy had a build thread on it. Looked great when he was done.

Cajun pirogue is easy to build, just follow the instructions, take your time.
Don't know about a secret pirogue. What plans do you have?

That's what it's called Cajun secret. It doesn't look that hard the hardest part looks like finding material. Marine plywood is almost impossible to find around here. If you do find it , it's pretty expensive.

Just use exterior plywood, fiberglass the seams, good paint and you will have the"most funnest" boat ever.
    Good paddling! !!!

Should 1/4" work? I'm trying to make it the lightest and strongest possible. Do you have a link to some good fiberglass? I see different kinds but I assume it's the fiberglass cloth that comes in rolls.

Most of the stitch and glue boats I have seen use 1/4 inch

I have built 6 or 8 out of WIDE, clear (no knots), HEART CYPRESS & the grain has to run true. Was taught to use just a handsaw & nails! The trick is getting the "bend" in the planks. Sometimes a perfect looking plank will split or crack & you have to start over. I have never built one out of plywood. How would one hold it together? Tiny, Tiny screws?
