I don't know which will suit you best and you have some good info so far. What I will say is to look at used kayaks. Many of the ads say only used a few times. Folks buy small, throw around boats without trying them and find out, after the money is spent, that they aren't as comfortable as they had imagined, or some other aspect didn't fit their needs. My advice is to try one (of whatever style you choose)before you buy so you don't have to post stuff on craigslist in a while. I had a small pond prowler rig years ago and it was good to fish from but difficult to load and unload solo. Mine was 4X8 and went in the back of a van. Picking it up from the ground to the back of the van was tough/awkward and I was healthy then. I might have been able to add some assist devices but moved to a canoe and lost all the issues. The nucanoe gets great reviews for stability and comfort but carry a good price. I look for one used all the time and they go fast. Standing up is no issue either so the legs can get stretched if you need. Check out their video. That's just one option and my input and it's worth what you paid for it. I have a 9' pram , a Duratech model 93, and it will get a lot of play in the near future. The design of the boat is different from a jon in that it is a displacement boat and not a planing boat. Look one up on google and you'll see the difference. Made in the 50's , I don't believe there is anything close on the market today, and I believe it weighs less than the canoe. Good luck with it......Skeet
