    Default Menards Kayak sale

Has anyone here used, or know anyone that has used, the Viper 10'4" kayak from Menards? It's SINK, not the SOT that I know most of you guys prefer. I've been looking for a cheaper way to get a kayak (if I can get the wife onboard) and there's not much on craigslist right now. I know it's not the best kayak in the world but it would work for getting me off the bank. I was curious what you guys thought. The reviews online are generally pretty good, but everyone says not to expect too much from it. Anyone here have experience with these?

I would mostly be using it on small lakes (less than 75 acres, trolling motor or canoe/kayak lakes only so no worries about getting plowed over by a boat on plane) and on the river and creeks by me when conditions allow.

For $180 it doesn't seem too bad as a way to get started.

Looks like an Old Town Vapor with a few changes. For that price it would be worth a shot.

Granted, it is better than a plastic 55 gal drum with outriggers. LOL
If the wife approves, go for it. Let her try it and maybe you can get yourself one too.
No man should ever be limited to fish from the bank. This will tone up your pecs and
bring home the fish too. Enjoy.

I have used one a couple times just recently and it is actually not too bad. Doesn't track the best, but then again a lot short yaks don't. It rides in the water good and actually is fairly roomy. A good buy for sure as long as you are not expecting to much out of it.
It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D

Looks similar to my 10' Sun Dolphin. It sit well in the water meaning hard to tilt. That's a good price

A co-worker has 2 from Menards he got on sale for $160 ea. if I remember correctly. He loves them for the money spent, I don't think he fishes, just paddles the small local river. If your area is rocky take notice the material is pretty thin, if not, cheap way to enjoy the water.

I've had mine for about 4 years now. It has served me well. It is quite stable, does take a little effort to paddle because it is wide and has a rather flat bottom. I use it probably 10+ times a year, I enjoy it and like you said for the money I was able to get the wife to buy off on it and got myself into kayaking. I've been looking into sot pedal kayaks for the last year but that is a little harder to get the wife to agree on.
