    Default Where to look

Hit the lake today. The rain held off, sun came out, and very few folks on the lake. That said I struggled to find fish. I've heard they should be hitting the banks. I went into the backs of coves that had brush and didn't catch a fish. I caught 5 crappie and a drum in 10-12' of water. I know the weather is wonky with us getting 2.75" of rain yesterday, and there was a north wind, but what am I doing wrong?

We were gonna run across the stateline Thursday to go crappie fishing in mid-kanas. The week's cold rainy weather and the NORTH wind were the reasons why we did NOT come fishing. Going this Monday-Wednesday instead!

Ive seen it happen too many times early in the year.

Been tough for sure, I would try the north ends of the lake, I have been able to get a few here and there. Picked up 17 this morning pretty shallow. Jig and a cork. Cork set about 2 foot, casting to brush.

Many a time I have gone out with a lot of water and a north wind. I have finally come to the conclusion that these crappies especially, develop lock jaw. As one noted fisherman has told me....before the front, good fishing. After the front, they get a headache and lock jaw sets in.
Sacred Heart of Mary, pray for us now, and at the hour of our death. AMEN
