    Default Melvern

Got on the water at 5:30pm and fished until 8pm. Found the crappie over brush piles in 20-25 ft of water. Fish were around 15-16 ft. Took a while to find them due to the lake being up several feet but ended the evening with 12 crappie all ≈12". Also ended up with another channel cat this trip. It was a lot of fun catching a 6lb channel on a 12 foot rod!

did you catch many dinks? Glad to hear you caught some decent fish. How does the shad population look at Melvern?
Sacred Heart of Mary, pray for us now, and at the hour of our death. AMEN

We caught about 50/50 keepers to little guys I suppose. Luckily the little guys were not swallowing the hook so most all lived to fight another day.
I did not spend a lot of time looking around but I did see several schools of shad popping the surface towards evening. I also saw several schools of shad on the down imaging while looking for crappie. Most seemed to be out in open water over drop offs.
