I don’t see any reason to change it. Got some bass reels with some the first that ever came out. Still strong as day I put it on. If I’m doing anything I have because of color fade just reversed the line on spool and keep on fishing it.
Greetings
I change monofilament every year on my reels but have never changed my braided line (Power Pro) in 3-4 years. It seems to be just fine.
What is the recommendation for changing braided line?
Thanks

I fish; therefore I am.

I never fill the spool all the way with braid - no need to waste money like that. I use cheap mono as a backer and I top it with 75yds (1/4 of a 300yd spool) of mono. The "bottom" part of that braid doesn't get used or see UV light. So, when the top part is starting to get frayed or I suspect UV light has weakened it then I go out to the yard, tie the end to a fence post, walk out unspooling until I get to the mono/braid tie, cut, then retie to the now "old" end. This doubles the lifespan of each section of line.

Yes he meant braid. I do the same thing. On the reels I use to dip trees in the summer I only put 60' of braid over the backing and reverse it when it gets worn. I don't fish over about 14' deep all summer so that is plenty even if you hook into a bigger fish than a crappie.
I use 20# high visible braid but only fish stained to dirty water.
