    Default Hillsdale 7/23

Had not been out since last October so I checked last night for any updates and found none so here goes one. . Lakes about 6 1:2 ft high and dropping about 3” a day. Cooler temps & light breezes painted a picture perfect day. The crappie were on their traditional summer spots & dipping trees were productive. The bite wasn’t crazy fast. One or two here and move on. The best part was every fish could of kept and there were a few jumbos. Hope you can get out soon.

Glad you got out. Taking Friday off for our kids county fair in the afternoon. Plan on hitting the water for the 1st time in a few weeks. Looking forward to trying out some new toys.

Got to go to Hillsdale Friday 7/26. First time this year, I could get the boat out, due to flooding. Crappie were in the trees 20-30 feet of water 10-15 feet deep. Typical summer pattern. Lake is still 8ft high. Water color was good. Caught crappie equally on minnows or dropping jigs straight down. You do have to fish in the heavy cover. Outer edges of trees produced nothing
