    Default Small Kansas lake Saturday


    Wanted to thank Shortdraw and DAT for putting up with me Saturday. I met them at a small lake here in Kansas on my way back from Oklahoma and we fished from about 0800 to 1300. We ended up with 24 really nice crappie with several that they caught close to the 2 lb range. We caught most of them on 3" slab slayers and wantta bees that shortdraw makes. Any way thanks guys and had a great day together.

    In the winter I slow it down or go to dead sticking. I fish 2 rods so in the winter I will run one with 3" and 1 with a 2" to 2.5" bait to see which one gets bit. Some times I go to 1/8 oz marabou jigs if they wont hit plastics. Some times I go home fish less but I'm hard headed and never go home unhappy because I am privileged enough to have a nice boat and good enough health to spend a day on the lake. You would be surprised how many 6" fish you will catch on a 3 to 4" bait and they thump it hard. I have a great wife a 19' high maintenance girl friend that sucks the gas life is good.
