    Default Plans for the weekend

Anybody fishing? Son and I will probably bluegill and red ear fish and maybe some crappie over the next 4 days. Try to stick to fishing only or no wake city or county lakes so we don't have to battle the jet skis and skiers. Probably use our kayaks and the big boat some.

Hit Harvey Lake East " 7 miles East of Newton" this morning. Not much luck until around 11 and then ended up with several decent bluegill, 1 crappie, 2 lb channel and blue cats, lg mouth bass. Caught most in and near the rocks along the dam. Bluegill were bigger a few weeks earlier during the spawn. Had 1 ski boat and a jetski making waves.

3 of us took my big boat Saturday morning and ended up with a good mess of bluegill. Son and I took the kayaks Sunday morning and left with another nice mess of bluegill and redear. I hadn't used my fly rod for probably 20 years and took it yesterday and had a blast. Caught a lot of big bluegill and 3 channel cat on it and 1 weighed close to 4lbs, what a fight. Never had caught catfish on my fly rod before.

You guys had a great day! The bigger bluegills I caught felt like big cats.

Went yesterday for a few hours before the jet skis showed up. Still managed to scare up three keepers and a dozen or so dinks before I called it at about 10:30 am. Lake Perry got busy early yesterday, I thought I had until noon or so before..... ya know..... lol. 10 ft-ish of water, fishing above weedy/small brush cover, about 7 ft deep, with black and chartreuse Crappie Thunders, 1/16 oz heads.

The bluegill seem finally done with the spawn so I located a shallow brush pile. It was loaded with crappie and some bluegill. First crappie from the kayaks, we caught probably 40 and kept 8. Headed back this morning.
