Question Any Other State Fishing Lake Junkies Out There?

I read a lot of reports from the reservoirs across the state and wonder how many like the peace and ease of fishing the state fishing lakes in Kansas. I have always enjoyed putting the boat on Wilson Reservoir, but most of my good fishing has been on several state fishing lakes. No wake rules, fishing boats only, and no jet skis: I find this kind of environment more pleasing for easing around a body of water and fishing.
I realize that for crappie numbers and size structure to reach optimum potential, a bigger body of water is necessary, but I find it more relaxing to fish these lakes, versus finding a quite spot on a big reservoir. Am I alone, or do most just keep their secret spots quiet?

Ill admit that I find the SFL's a lot more relaxing and enjoyable to fish. My old man always preferred the smaller lakes and I guess I'm the same way. The only thing better is a private honey hole watershed.

This is especially true with all the lakes up so high....also don't forget the county and city lakes, just fished Gardner on Wednesday and caught catfish, white bass, largemouth, crappie and bluegill. I think Olathe lake might be next on the small lake circuit, it's easy to overlook these under fished bodies of water. Thanks for the report!
FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS & FISHING...... hopefully in that order but honestly, not always!

I enjoy fishing the smaller lakes but also taking on the challenge of the larger reservoirs is very rewarding to me.

They are fun! Especially on days like tomorrow - WINDY. I will be on one at sunrise. Good fishing to you all.

Don't tell anyone but those state lakes sometimes produce just as good of crappie if not better.
