    Default Farm pond 4/11

My daughter, a friend and I hammered on the crappie tonight in a small farm pond near my house in NE KS. We ran through 5 dozen minnows in an hour then started throwing Mr Crappie Jokers in blue/white and electric chicken on 1/32 jig heads. Fish were 2-3 feet deep in 8 feet of water. Last sunday, Hillsdale at the dam was a bust. The way people were talking, you would have thought the fish were jumping right onto the bank. After several hours Sunday evening and not one fish between 3 of us, I don't think I will going back there anytime soon. Hopefully we get LOTS of rain so the lakes and ponds fill back up to normal levels. Our ponds are nearly 5 feet low and Clinton and Hillsdale are probably 8 feet low. Anyways, they were biting tonight and we ended up keeping about a dozen 10-12'' fish and threw back probably 60+ fish in that same size range.
