Thinking about buying a new boat. Would cost me $44,000. Looked into buying a new one several years ago. Property tax was going to kill me. Anyone bought a new boat lately? Any idea how much it will cost me to own a new boat in Kansas?

Call your county appraisal office boats are taxed at 5%compared to the 30% they used to be appraised at. Somehow your mill Levy works into it though.

I bought in October. I decided to register in KS vs OK as it would cost about the same now. And it's less of a pain. For ~$25k boat it'll be $150 for 2017. That's the estimate the appraiser's office gave me for SG county. I bought from an individual out of state, so i had no sales tax to pay up front...that'll get you if you arent' expecting it from a dealer. Good luck man...boats are great.
