That is really sad, I generally trust people especially fishermen but getting harder the older I get.
I've been using the Antioch boat ramp since water has been high used it 2-3 times last week. A lot of times only trailer in the parking lot. On Tuesday headed to Warsaw and had an exhaust system fail warning come on and was able to make it back to Olathe Ford. Seems somebody decided to top off my DEF fluid with lake water on my 2012 F250. Already spent $720 having the DEF tank drained and refilled. Picked up today and drove it way from the dealer and 3 miles later engine light came on so drove it back. Seems the injector that pumps the DEF fluid is reading low pressure. Fingers are crossed that that part will be covered on my extended warranty. Looks like I will be using Jayhawk ramp more often now.

It's getting like that at a lot of places. A friend had his spare tire and bracket stole, the following yr someone cut his tarp at the motel in Philipsburg looking for something to steel. My trailer has been hit twice, broke the lights off. It's been several yrs but there were tires slashed at Kirwin. Now I have a dash camera running while I'm on the water.
I was kind of shocked this year when I notice that the local ranger had an assault rifle in his truck. By itself that is no big deal but it comes with a change in attitude. The us against them attitude gets worse every day.
Being in an isolated location has never been safe but in the past we didn't assume that everyone was a criminal until proven innocent. Letting the bad apples spoil our fishing is not an option. We have to double down on friendly congenial interaction or the bad guys win.
That doesn't mean that we have to bury our heads in the sand. If you see something suspicious report it. The cell phone and social media are our best weapons.
