Hit one of my favorite C& R bass ponds on Ft Riley this morning just before sunrise! Armed with my 0wt Sage fly rod and throwing a black #10 Booglebug popper I was able to land 11 largemouths between 6" and 17" long plus several bluegill and a couple of green sunfish!
It was a nice quiet morning, I had the pond to myself except for the flock of 35-40 wild turkeys that cane to the waters edge for a drink, it was pretty cool watching them!
Here is a pick of the first bass of the morning!!!
"I envy not him that eats better meat than I do; nor him that is richer, or that wears better clothes than I do; I envy him, and him only, that catches more fish than I do."
Izaak Walton, 1653
Nice trip out. Only ever fly fish for trout and carp. Keep thinking I should take it out for dipping trees, would be fun. How heavy fly Rod?
