Default HDS 8 - Ran for 15 seconds then went dead

Got new HDS 8 unit unpacked and into boat Saturday.
Hit power button and the lighted keys came on for about 15 seconds then unit went dead.
Tried power button again. No luck.
Reseated power cord and tried again. Nothing.
Hooked power cord to a 332c unit. Works fine.
Took it back to Cabelas for replacement.
    Not Fun...

Make sure you clip the cables clean for any unused GPS wires so they don't touch. I had this problem with my 7 and called them. Have not had a problem since... It's not fun when you have those problems.
It's not duck season so I have to do something... :D

Springhill Duckman, You were right. The GPS wires in the cord I was using were all touching. Sorry to take so long to acknowledge your help.
