    Default Lifefly-Outdoors Eyes

Okay so I've bought eyes from there in the past, have also use a couple other online retailers. SOMEONE (cant remember if here or FB), mentioned when they buy from Lifefly, they only use the ones with clear backing. I've noticed the same thing, that the eyes on waxed cardboard just aren't good quality. I've tried to search 29 different variants on here to narrow down who said buy the ones on the clear plastic but I can't find it. That said, if it was you, can you please tell me how you know which ones are which? I've got thousands of eyes, but most IMO are totally worthless. I still use a dab of loktite gell to hold them, and clear coat them afterwards, but have noticed all eyes, no matter who purchased from, are better quality when theyre the ones on the clear plastic vs the waxed paper. I just don't know that I can tell the difference from Lifefly, or if they even sell the ones on the plastic. Thanks- Justin

EDIT to the above post: Going back and looking at them again, I do see some that have shadows below them, so I suppose I may have answered my own question, and either missed the shadows, or didnt look at that particular eye before.

I stated it on FB the other week in one of the groups. I was simply saying that every eye I’ve gotten from LifeFly are on plastic sheets and I’m pushing probably 35-40k eyes if not more that I’ve gotten there. Seems like other eyes I’ve gotten from other places are on paper sheets and the paper tends to pull off over time and stick to the backside of the eye.

I think all the eyes I've purchased from LifeFly are on plastic sheets as well. Never any problems but I use super glue and coat with Sally Henson. I'm going to be using UV going forward though.

I use superglue and sallys as well but I tend to lose a good portion of the eyes to sticking to the cellophane covering.

Id have sworn the ones I've bought from lifefly were mostly on paper but I cant remember what I've bought from where. I know the Jersygirl eyes (cant remember the actual store name), were paper backed.

I'll have to go back and check. I need to do a better job at knowing where that stuff comes from, as well as finishing a jig completely. I've been known to tie some prototypes that aren't fully finished or all the steps taken, and fish them and eyes come off. MOST of the time I fully finish them, especially if they're for someone else, or something I've tried and know to work. Occasionally I'll do prototypes for myself and maybe not cure the paint, or coat over the eyes. Some jigs I did without superglue but coated the jig with Sallys, then when I have an eye failure I can never remember what exactly I did or didn't do, to pin down the problem.

If I remember I will check tonight on the eyes I have. Almost all have come from LifeFly and I know exactly which ones they are. I finish all of mine the same but like I said I will be switching to UV instead of SH. More than likely I will be switching to the Solarez Diamond like DrNip recommends.

Alright I stand corrected. Solid orange, solid chartreuse and solid white come on paper or at least did for me. All the other solid colored and translucent colored eyes come on plastic sheets. But haven’t had any problem with the solid eyes on paper like I have other places. Been buying eyes from them for about 3 years now. Here are some of the eyes in 5 and 6mm I’ve gotten from them. 4 and 7mm are the same.

That’s about what I’m seeing as well. Mine mostly are 3mm and 4mm.
