Exercise in Frustration

Watching some videos got me wanting to tie some different Wooley Bugger style patterns. I decided to attempt whats called Abigaile Angel. Wow I'm not used to using smaller hooks. I'm using a longer bent shank size 12 streamer hook. Got one ugly specimen tied after wrestling it. The 2nd one my hackle came loose as I was whip finishing. I need to pick up some smaller thread. I have 140 and 210 denier. I wanted orange and my only one was the 210. Thank goodness I have all winter to practice and perfect tying smaller hooks. My eyes aren't what they use to be either, so I picked up a pair of 3X readers.

Crappie jigs are a breeze compared to trout sized jigs

Yes, they are a bear and crappie jigs are much easier. That jig head sure helps to keep from crowding the hook eye when whip finishing.

Maybe try size 12 2xl or 3xl until you get the hang of it. 70 denier thread, but be ready to break it until you control those crappie jig tying muscles

Bright light and good magnification. Sometimes I don’t realize what it is I am not seeing. LOL

I really like the 8/0 UNI thread for the smaller ties after using Ultra thread for my first 20 years. Favorite color is the FL.Orange that looks like red but when put under uv light it looks like a glow red. It's thin and strong and spools are 200 yards so they last awhile. Only time I break thread is when I get careless and nick the hook point while wrapping.
