    Default Need Some Suggestions

I've been advised by someone I really trust that I need to use more natural colors such as pink, silver, brown, green, orange, etc in the jigs I tie. He is suggesting crustaceans and larvae colors. The water here is clear and the banks are red clay, mostly. Could some of you suggest some patterns that I might try? Give me names for the Chenille and suggest tail material, head color and flash. I have the common type of male colorblindness so I always need help with colors on something like this. Thanks.

For the tail it would be hard to beat light or dark gray. Shell pink is also great.

I have found that most crappie fishermen are pretty good guys. I would go to your local lake and ask them what they have been using. I like chartruse with about anything but I fish stained murky water most of the time.

Our water in Mississippi lakes are like fishing in a bottle of Yoo-hoo…and others days it’s like beautiful spring water,,,seems they care more about presentation then color most the time,,,color never seems to matter all that much to me,,,but presentation and smell do….

I’m kinda in both camps. Size and shape some days and certain colors on others. If the fish like crawfish, I would think that learning to tie a split tail to mimic claws would be a hot ticket. I would think that you could stay basic or get really detailed, up to you. Dark bodies and orange and brown claws. Flash not needed. Slow crawled on the bottom would get some bonus bass too. I know crappie like crawfish too so there’s no telling what will stretch your line.
