Paul- Have always enjoyed your inventive mindset. Particularly like the body/head contact(flush-mount) on your larger underspins(new design?) On your smaller u/s's, have you tried a tinsel-mylar chenille "gap-filler"? If so, sorry I missed it. You are easily the Master

Well thank you very much Doug. I have a long ways to go to be able to claim such title though. LOL

I have not tried Mylar yet. Looks interesting though.





Take a look at those beauties. Now that’s an underspin.

The heads weigh 1/10th ounce, but with the swivel a tad bit more. The eyes are 7mm in diameter. These heads can take an 8mm eye and still have some room to spare. I am liking the bigger eyes. The neon eyes add a splash of brilliant color, which the camera cannot show you. In UV light conditions they look like little LED bulbs. I feel that this is a way yo add additional attraction. Painted heads do not match up against these things, and none of these were powder painted. Don’t need to be painted either as the eye would conceal even the best paint job. After some oxidation the lead between the eyes will darken but it will not matter.

The Gorilla glue in CLEAR works great for securing them. A dab and apply the eye. Too much and the eye floats into a bad position. Have to monitor them as they dry. Thanks to Dr Nip having shared.

I read your threads, especially the ones involving crabs. I love me some crabs. Ooohhheee I love me some crabs.

I will look at the mylar stuff some, but there are so many things I am interested in exploring. I saw a video by Mr. Crappie where he stated rather boldly that he could catch every crappie in the state of Texas using just four color combinations of jigs.

White/Chartreuse
Blue/White
Lime Green/ Chartreuse
and I forget ( will have to watch it again )

Anyways I think he knows a little about crappie fishing. I noticed that he never mentioned water clarity, and Texas is big so there would no doubt be lots of water types. Apparently that does not concern him. I really like his plastic baits and not sure if he designed them or just signed on. The Joker always seems to be right in the hunt whenever it is placed in my spread. I prefer to buy baits from the members here, but they don’t need to know I been cheating.

Getting to be our time of year again. When we see the pictures of snow and ice and wonder why people live like that when they could be wearing shorts and a tank top. I really enjoy that old fireball in the late Fall and throughout Winter. Feels great to bask as I troll. Like being under a giant rotisserie. Feels great. I want to stay out all day, unless the fishing is bad. Seven months of that is on it’s way.

Anyways I been busy making jigs, and appreciate the shout out. Look forward to you posting up some of your adventures, too. Hope that boat is running strong.

No shorts in the winter up this way. Have to swish the line guides in the water to get the ice off. Wet braid will freeze stiff when it is 12 degrees out

I have done mylar jigs since way back. It is a little finicky to work with but catches fish real well.

Waiting on my second Woods and Water order to get here. In the meantime I have a bunch of heads ready to tie up. Gonna try some new things. I can experiment some with tying because I have some awesome plastics to get me by in the meantime. Trolling jigs. They are a bit larger than most of my tied jigs, They offer movement when being pulled in a continuous fashion.

I am experimenting with weights as well. Figured 1/16th ounce was best, but a little heavier does offer some things. Not as much line out behind the boat needed……for one. Better plastic bait to jig head matchup- size wise. Better attitude while swimming with a Whirling Jervish.

The heads are shaped round when viewed from the side. Round also when seen top or bottom edgeways. I anticipate some erratic action. Not like a lipped lure, but odd anyways.

Gorgeous day today. I worked while it cruised past me. Saw some boats being taken out on my commute. They never got close enough for me to throw my coffee cup at them,

You know……..I’ll tell you what. My wife made me paint our bedroom that exact same color. No I’m not kidding. They must be kin.

You let me know if a short Florida trip is in your lineup this Winter. As nice as you are on here, you got to be a great person in the flesh. We could use my stuff and that would let you travel light. No docks to shoot, but we would eat good.
