Recently I poured up some new jig heads. Guess I better get busy making up something.






I got out my vise. Just above are Chinese bobber stops, strung on mono line, with the thought that they would wiggle and waggle as they went. I flick the bobber thingie and it flitters back and forth nicely. Vibrates. One has a knot to prevent the foam stopper from slipping off. The other I made the line too long, had to cut off the knot, and then used super glue to freeze it in place. Either seems to be fashioned firmly.

I got to looking at my creations, and thought a dock shooting feller might appreciate having a grasper knob thingie to pull back on before he looses it. The profile is fairly close to what our local minnows appear as. I hope they swim well whilst being dragged behind the boat.

Collins Mold Arow jig style in 1/16th ounce, powder painted in clear with UV enhancers, with an EC 571 short shank hook, some chenille and the thingie. I almost want to call them Bobcats. As the weather continues to cool and I start dropping down in sizing, these might be a good option.

Not happy with their eyes. The flat surface makes creating the 3D effect a little bit problematic. A nice eye cavity fixes all of that. I think I will stick to using my Bright Eyes with this head. They really pop and will be spotted earlier than regular eyes.

Speaking of which, I ordered up some size 30 SS rhinestones. These will be 6.4 mm and will fit the Arow head jig very nicely. Again, adding a large brightly colored gem replaces the need to paint with powders to try to get some attention. The gems are so much more brilliant than any of the powder paints. Some gems do well with a white background, but all do well with a dark black background.

I am mad at Gorilla Glue for making stuff that is a disaster to use. Regular old GG foams up as it hardens and this pushes the eye away from the head and makes a huge mess. I pried the eyes off of those jigs and now the glue bottle is in the garage in case I ever need to play a mean trick on someone, and gift them the bottle to use for their jigs. Horrible stuff. I wasn’t thrilled with the other glues I have tried either. So back on the great glue hunt I go.

Waiting for the post office to open so I can mail some jigs. Gonna try to make Deadly Dan just a little more deadly.

Propane bottle exchange, grocery store, dump, and the glue hunt all in one excursion. Believe it or not there is a girl working at the dump that could win most any beauty contest I ever seen. Not really expecting to see all that while standing there with a handful of garbage. Good thing I am married, because the dump stinks and I would have to hang out down there.

My boss said we will try to swap out spark plugs and see if that fixes the engine. Slab thinks I should gun it more frequently, but I already run it pretty good. There is another reason why it is fouling plugs, if indeed that is what is happening. Engine has like 30 hours and this is the second time it has gone into slump back home mode. Upsetting.

This is the Gorilla Glue I really like. The brush works great and the glue doesn’t harden in the bottle, so it last until empty.

Micanopy, have you tried locking it in place with a dot of regular superglue, then coating in UV glue. It is a bit touchy in price, but you can get a 2 oz. Bottle of UV Resin Hard type at Hobby Lobby in the jewelry section. Usually on the bead isle. If your lucky the UV flashlight is their also. Mine is always out of the light. Amazon has several lights for this ranging from $7.95 to as high as you want to pay. but one that I use is made by DARKBEAM UV. A 395nm Flashlight that's USB Rechargeable. Put some Resin over an eye hit it for 10-20 seconds and do the other side. ready to fish that fast...

Bottle of UV Resin Hard type at Hobby Lobby in the jewelry section. Usually on the bead isle. If your lucky the UV flashlight is their also. Mine is always out of the light. I visited the hardware store and found some Duco Cement and that seems to do pretty well. I also picked up some of the J B Clear Weld in the two tube epoxy variety. You squeeze syringe and it applies equal amounts. Stir then apply. I haven’t tried it yet.

The Duco applicator is for those that want a lot of glue, not little droplets. I can manage though, and did so with a few eyes yesterday. This morning they are stuck on pretty well, but I am still not satisfied and the hunt shall continue. The Duco has altered the appearance on a few of the rhinestones. I suppose it melted the backing.

This lure kind of interests me. It sports an eye that I made using a 2D sticker and some UV resin. I feel that the appearance is superior to what I get in 3D eyes. The head is powder painted in clear with UV stuff mixed in.






Here I was fiddling around seeing what baits look like with the glow eyes. I had broken out the old Bat Jig mold and poured up some 1/8th ounce heads. The two bottom right. The eyes look fairly good on those. The fit is not perfect as the Bat Jig produces a rounded bowl shaped eye cavity vs a nice straight sided edge. So the rhinestones have to be positioned just so.






It does make for an interesting creature-like look. Kind of reminds me of that episode in the old Star Trek where the away team meets VOL.






VOL told the locals what to do. They were a peaceful people who knew none of the seven deadly sins. No nger or violence. However, when VOL saw the away team it taught them how to kill. Pretty cool episode actually. My Favorite was the one that pitted Kirk against the Captain of the Gorn ship. Now that was a cool creature.



Physically, Kirk was no match for his strength, but he did have more agility. When the Gorn had him in a bear hug, squeezing the life out of him, Captain Kirk made a move that freed him. Do you remember what he did to make the Gorn Captain release his hold ?



So I was looking at dragon eyes. I was on AliBabba and discovered that me great idea of layering resin over a photograph of an eye has already been accomplished. I hate that. All my best ideas get thought of. Well they aren’t using resin, but rather glass. They stick a photograph to the flat bottom of the glass and BAM.

These are called Photo Glass Cabochons. They work up an eye design on the computer, print it out, and affix it to the glass. The effect is cool. So I was looking around the site and saw where they have different grades of these eyes. Some are quite artistic. The simpler the eyes, the cheaper they get. I saw 100 eyes for $ 2.95 and free shipping if you buy $10 worth of stuff. I am thinking about springing for some and see what shows up next month.

This is an example of what they sell for $ 2.95 for a hundred.



These are as cheap if not cheaper than the 3D eyes everyone is so fond of. I guess if you add the word fishing to something the price needs to jump up.

There is an issue though. As I was pondering my idea, I realized that the photo backing would necessarily need to be protected from water. That means they would probably go bad if attached with glue. Instead they would need to be inserted down inside an eye cavity, and the edges sealed with resin. Encapsulating the stupid thing.

Next problem is sizing. There are some as small as 6mm, but the good ones start at 8mm. I would need a jig with an eye cavity much larger than the ones I currently have. The eye cavity on the little jig I showed earlier is exactly 5mm, and I did not see that size. Drats.

Oh well…… I will look around some more. Must be tedious to assemble so they tend to run larger for that reason. I saw some gorgeous eyes in the 12mm size.

I don’t lose very many jigs. hardly any at all in fact. So for me to make a really cool jig isn’t a giant waste of time. Like it would be if I was dipping into tree tops or something. Also, it interests me to design and fashion up unique designs. I enjoy piddling with stuff to form up junk. Which I then gift away to make room to make more junk.

Well, Joe you can look about some and find what interests you, then ask. Those that sell on here are honest as Abe. Many will customize your selection to suit. Some are like me and do not sell.




Well I ordered some more of those rhinestones, only this time in a larger size. Should have read the reviews about the seller because they all read the same. Promises to deliver by a certain date. date comes and goes and still they haven’t shipped. Then you get a notice that they will arrive a week or so later.

Still I can’t wait to see what the jig heads will look like with these larger sized gems. I have some heads painted up and ready to go. I and thinking that once I apply a few that I will see no more need to paint the heads first. Rather just glue the gems on and done. They should completely cover the entire side of the jig. I really like the brightness of their glow.

I met a man that has the Monkey Pox. Covered in oozing sores. He handed me some papers and after he left I cut my hands off. Come to discover that he could give it to me through touch. Mostly a gay man thing now, but it is moving in on children in schools. See what happened was we invented a Small Pox vaccine, and that protected us from Monkey Pox as well. Then in 1970 we had finally eradicated Small Pox, and they stopped administering the vaccine. Now younger people no longer have immunity to either pox. So if you see someone with oozing sores, almost like they got into a mess of skeeters and scratched themselves silly, try not to touch anything after they have. Body fluids, sprays from the mouth such as sneezing, and direct contact with an oozing sores gets it done.

I heard tale that someone declared the pandemic to be over. It is not. Just wait and some more will be around. Rand Paul has been hot after the cause. He has asked that weird doctor where his money came from and where he sent money to study just such a virus. Of course it is bad form to even ask. Seems people have studied the thing and see where it was not naturally occurring, rather a made man made virus. A weapon of war. Crazy stuff going on folks.

I spent my day yesterday starving myself. Yup colonoscopy this morning. The prep was good and I am ready to get in the car and get this over with. Colon cancer is more prevelant than we imagine. Many other types of cancer actually started from colon cancer. It gets in the blood stream and now you have liver cancer, lung cancer, etc. Many will die needlessly for fear of having the procedure done. This is a huge mistake. You should get the procedure done as soon as you qualify, which is age 50, unless you have family history of such. The prep wasn’t so bad, I am just a little hungry is all. Got me some taters and some chuck roast in the old crock pot for when I get home. Mmmmmmmmm

I am serious about the procedure though. You have a responsibility to your kin to stick around and this is a good way to do that. Simplest of all to detect, diagnose, and remove. No chemicals or radiation needed. Just snip snip and done. I hope I am clean and without the dreaded cancer. I have a lot of jig heads yet to make.
