Default What kind of tier are you?

I like to tie a few of these, and a few of those, rather than sitting down to tie a big batch of the same fly or jig. I understand that commercial tiers have to churn out a big batch of the same flies/jigs, but I get bored tying the same pattern over and over. The disarray of my tying desk is proof of my affliction.

    How about you?

I usually tie in groups of 3. If I’m tying for myself and others 6, 9, 12, etc.

I seldom tie more than 3 of the same pattern jigs at a time. I typically just dream up color combo and start tying. I would never want to tie jigs for profit because it would get boring to me very fast.

If I find a pattern I like and the right materials I may make up 10. Typically, 2 or 3 because I'm always trying color or material modifications.

I usually start a tie without a complete idea of what it will be, deciding on material step by step.

Will also tie several that are similar but with variations and occasionally try to duplicate a jig that is proven.

Glad to see I’m not the only one that ties in small batches.

Some of this and some of that. Generally, no more than 3 of the same.

I am a little creative and a whole lot of a person who ties patterns that have worked for others. I used to tie commercially but the last two years I have tied for myself and for what the fish have been eating. Lately I see most Panfish love a Wax Worm or a Meal Worm so that is what I have been perfecting.
