Woke up early this morning and decided to tie a couple of jigs before going fishing:

The radar and then the thunder and rain changed my fishing plans.
That means more jig tying.
Here's a. 1/8 head with white and black craft fur over flash. The craft fur as a nice wavy action in the water, then there's a stiffer center of flash:

I was hoping for some rain here today. My tomatoe and pepper plants could use it

We had a good one Sat and then this morning.
The fish have not been biting for me the last couple of days so decided to stay home due to that and weather.
It seems like they are scattered out with mostly small fish on my spots.
Need to get on the scope and roam for a while most likely.
Reez,,,, I’d have to say,,,you sure are hooked making these jigs,,,,I about gave up my all hunting to get into this tying stuff,,,,,I chose my fishing over my hunting ,,wife asked me to please pick 1 and stick with it,,,,lol,,,,I also was an avid archer both hunting and competition outdoor and indoors….lol,,,,my archery was worse then my tying habits,,,it’s taken a back seat as well,,,,
Went this morning to washed the old girl down after 4 years of sitting still,,,,all my gears put up and cleaned,,, flushed my oil tank out while it was out and changed my bilge pumps,,,,installed new tilt sensor and installing new dash this week with new Livorsi gauges,,,she’s about ready to set sail I hope soon,,,,,,she’s an old boat but runs like a scalded dawg,,,,
You got that right, hooked for sure.
In my defense, a lot of practice is needed
Tying jigs has become a very interesting and relaxing activity for me when not fishing, er.....testing.
It has taken a while but I'm getting to the point where my results are usually pretty decent.
There's still the occasional mess but even those will catch fish, the most important criteria for this.
Your great jigs have inspired me to take even more time for the details like pre and post material prep work. Trimming and straightening have become part of the process and it has sunk in that getting each layer right before moving to the next step is vital to quality. So.....thank you.
Anyway, I am finally at a point where my jigs are turning out satisfactory to me visually while still meeting the most important goal of working as intended. It is great fun to sit at the vise and decide each step/material on the fly with no final result in mind until the end. With the variety of materials available the possibilities are about endless.
So yeah, hooked is right and you are partly to blame!
There's still a lot of room for improvement so it's practice, practice, and more practice for me.
The primary objective has been achieved, catch fish, so now its just fun for me.
Spending, spending and more spending this week,,,,cost me an entire months allowance buying my latest toy,,,,it’s a industrial heat gun which I can rebuild if the brushes or heating element goes out, because last week my 10 yr old one caught fire after dropping some hot lead inside it,,,lol
