Does this resemble a Mealworm Crappie might eat also made from a balloon. "G" often told me that he fished with a Mealworm. I decided to try and make an imitation Mealworm using my latex balloon technique. This is tied on a #4 Gold Plated Sickle hook. What do you think?

I did it the same way I did the Wax Worm imitation. As a final step I used Yellow, orange and brown permanent markers on the top of the mealworm to give it a buggy look. The segments were augmented by using #6 pound monofilament. Use a black permanent marker to color the monofilament. Then wrap the latex to give the segmented look. Use head cement put on with a long needle to cement the lure and make it permanent. Thank you all for your comments. I think "G" is smiling now. I always told him I would try and make an imitation Mealworm that the fish could not steal off the hook. If others missed the video showing the technique, I am enclosing it on this thread.

I like it...one thing I have done on my trout flies when using latex or similar products to imitate larvae etc....is to use a UV resin (I use Loon thin clear) over the finished body. It adds durability and can add transparency...I'll try to dig up some old pics.
