Also important to have at least in in packs of 4, but 5 would even be better for the tying. The more of the same color combo you have to tie the faster it goes because you have to take materials out and out them up for each color. Example of bad thing would be like packs of 2 and someone ordered like 20 packs all different color combos, you would be changing colors every two, lol!

That would cease to be fun pretty fast.

Yeh. I hear that. I'm in a bit different situation as I can't do custom orders because I'm out of the country 10 months a year. I have been making between 50 and 100 of each style and size. Am going to list them...and when they are gone they are gone. I can't ship from here so my daughter in PA will be sending them out. Not sure how it will work but I have to try something. Is really a 3rd world country here and I have to ship supplies down in a barrel because you cant buy anything here and almost imposable to buy from the State. Amazon wont even ship here. There are no road names or address...everything just goes by an area. I live in Bois Joulie Dennery. That's my address. We dont have mail men...you just go down to the Post office in the village and ask if anything has your name on it.Click image for larger version.

I don't know what happened with kip tails. They used to be super cheap. Now they want crazy prices for them. They're also one of the materials I like to see in person before buying because a lot of them are half brown or have hair that's so short it's useless for crappie jigs
    Don't worry, catch crappie.

Check out Patrick (Fridays86 here on cdc) at Woods and Water Outdoors. I think he would treat you right and give an honest review of his kiptails.

When I started they were like $2 each at the shop. One of the cheapest tail materials. I still have a bunch from back then. I don't use a lot of kip tail because I find the material difficult to work with. It's awkward to cut off the tail and it's hard and slick so getting it to stay on the hook takes more time and effort than I want to spend on one jig when there are cheaper materials that are easier to handle. I only use it for really small thread necks.

A lot of the flies I tie use deer belly hair instead of kip tail.
I haven't used it on crappie jigs yet but it really flies nicely so will give it a go later this year.

Thanks. I have them listed for less than $1.00 and still not selling. I gave up. Just tying for myself and friends now.

If anything I’ve learned is cost,,, seems the foxtail at first cost more, but man do you get a lot of tail for your money,,,kiptail also is very Curley compared to the nice straight foxtails,,, soft and fluffy goes along way when it comes to jigs,,,I get foxtail from fur traders online and it comes dyed in several different colors,,, love this stuff,,,these are all foxtails,,,beautiful stuff
