It is a rabbit hole for one to fall into
What have I gotten myself into! I just placed another order with Woods and Water for chenille and hair. I talked my wife into going to the Dollar Tree with me to pick out nail polish to paint jigheads yesterday. My grown daughters thought that was hilarious. I see how tying your own jigs can be very addicting. I can't wait for my order to arrive. In the meantime, I have plenty of jigs to paint.

Squirrel tail works well too!
Thanks guys. I spent yesterday evening searching the archives for info on which fur/hair to start with and decided on the calf tail. As I get better, I am planning on adding squirrel and rabbit to my supplies. I do have some craft hair and marabou already. I have a feeling I'll be researching the powder paints shortly down the road.
Powder paint is fairly easy to do. If it isn't against the law where you are squirrel tails are pretty easy to find on fresh runover squirrels. I cut them off pull out the bone and then cover in salt until dry.

When you get to squirrel, look for some red squirrel tails. The red orange color has worked well for me. Have fun with it.

love to powder paint. They all have characteristics of there own, even within the same brands. I have several automotive powder coats which come in any color you could want. ($) Auto paint is quite temperamental but beautiful in the end. Does not really catch more fish, just more fishermen. I suggest starting with a Pro-Tec type paint and exploring from there.

I just ordered 11 more colors powder paint yesterday. I love to do the craft of jig tying. It is addictive and very rewarding when you have that beautiful picture of a nice slab and your jig hanging out of its mouth!
