Default Chenille For 1/32 Oz Jig.

When you guys tie jigs, do you use the same chenille for a 1/32 oz jig as you would for a 1/16 oz jig? If not, what size do you use for a 1/16 oz, and what size do you use for a 1/32 oz? Thanks.

Well many worry about size of the chenille and if tying New Age, Nylon or Rayon smaller size like #2 or #3 that I use the size is more important, but if tying with Crystal I feel you can use as big as they make at Danville like I do. The size 10 or 12 that I use look big and spiky, but when wet it doesn't look like that and it makes a beautiful body. Each one has there own way of tying and what materials they like to use so just because one of us does it our way doesn't mean you can't do it how you like it best Here are some 1/32 Oz Roadrunners I tied and the Mylar is Danville size 10 Crystal and when wet looks awesome. Maybe I will take a pic of a wet one sometime, lol! Anyway see the ones below.

Almost forgot, these are size #6 hooks and you can clearly see how the big Crystal will not get in the way of blocking your hook point from sticking the fish.

I use everything from large to micro, depending. For 1/32 I use from micro to medium, but have used large. They fall slower with bigger chenille. 1/32 with a #6 sickle usually stays slender with small or micro. Sometimes a small stubby fat body with only 3 or 4 turns of bigger chenille gives the look I’m after that day.
