Those are the good days when you want to aoak up some sun to warm up a bit.

Super Dave likes to collect fishing junk, and now wants to construct a huge shed to house it all. I just want to get rid of my junk, not provide housing. So I got this container of jigs that I made. About a dozen bought jigs in there but the rest are my special creations. Of course I have all sorts of new creations, so these need to go. I have other containers as well. LOL

I considered a contest here but people are funny and sometimes the nice guys ends up being the goat. Yeah, I said people are funny. This has happened to me way too many times. Be generous, get burned. People think special thoughts about what they deserve and such.

So now I am considering taking this container to my gentleman’s crappie club. These are old old ancient men from way back getting on in the years. Far far too many years. Anyways I thought they might like to have some of these, even though most of them no longer actually go fishing.



Would it be likely they would accept as a gift, or do you think they would want to pay, or should I just call it a club donation and let them choose. Hmmmmmmm.

My wife tried to help me out a little. She didn’t want me to toss away my creations. She thinks they have value. I challenged her assertion and she decided that she could make use of them. Here is what she came up with.



I still am unsure of how I feel about this piece. I asked if she was gonna add more jigs but it is already fairly heavy. As art it is definitely in the eye of the beholder, as I think it looks silly. Maybe I could sell it to someone and use the money to buy more canvasses for another- Mermaid with Jig. Get rid of excess junk that way.



I saw where the other CDC contests are vague challenges and I asked for advice and was told contests have winners, but more importantly they have lots of losers. I don’t need people being nasty.

Maybe I thought, I should just put them into baggies and whenever I see people at the ramps, throw baggies at them and quick tear off in the truck. I only worry that doing this is like feeding raccoons. Sure everything is cute when they first start coming up for free food, but soon enough one will end up biting you, and then you end up in the ER getting rabies shots and lectures from medical staff and such. I already have had people come up and ask me for my fish because they must have seen me give away fish before. I think that was lesson enough.

I hate to see them just melt down though when they are still relatively new- most all less than 8 months old. In a year or so the plastic will start to break down.

I think I will go with the club guys and see what happens. What do you big time jig makers do with your junk ?

First do whichever brings you the most happiness and peace. As for things unwanted anymore. I usually pass them on. Usually a kid bank fishing is most appreciative. Some stuff hangs atound and collects a protective coat of dust.

I like to give them to kids fishing derby's. Kids love free stuff and they are not as picky as us lure makers seem to be.

Keeping those plastics in that jar with all those colors there gonna bleed on each other soon, not sure why you get rid of the jig heads to but to each his own, that’s a scary looking painting, got no use for it, if you’d sink some brush to troll around you’d have a lot less excess to give away ��

Now that's an idea. Run on up to Tennessee and we can decorate the underside of the docks

PROPHET OF DOOM UPDATE

My area of North Central Florida is just now starting to see the recent spike in virus deaths begin to tail off. The state saw massive numbers of deaths, many more than any of us have ever seen. The state’s electronic system for registering deaths collapsed and is still having issues. Morgues are desperately trying to add space. Crematoria have been running at capacity. Hospitals each are running several covid wards trying to save people and some have began using refrigerated trucks to house the bodies until funeral directors have room enough to pick them up. No one even bothers to ask anymore if the decedent is covid positive.

This latest spike began in late July and we are just now seeing the deaths begin to slow. Without a doubt, the majority of victims were those that were a little overweight and had refused the vaccine. This variant swept through them like wild fire.

Now is not the time for complacency. I have been seeing huge crowds gathered and almost no one wearing a mask. Still today even, there are people who are refusing the vaccine. Amazing.

If you did not get the vaccine you need to do so right away. It is the only thing that will save you when this new variant reaches your area. It will keep you here amongst the living. Even those that get sick and survive are left to do battle will long term illnesses due to the virus. Nasty little devil.

Wash your hands often
Get vaccinated

I’ve been vaccinated, fish and hunt by myself, work on jigs, and work in my yard and gardens. I’ve always tended to avoid crowds and public gatherings. I really haven’t changed my lifestyle since the virus came around. I really hope everyone stays healthy and aware.
