Jig Head Supplier

Does anyone have any recommendations for a supplier of jig heads, they must be collarless, and pre-painted...

Another vote for Bugman, but all of those mentioned do good work.

Mad crappie. Jerry has taken it to another level and all his heads are spin cast from molds he made. All heads are clean as clean gets. He isn’t so much selling to the public anymore right now but certain shops carry his heads. Man has made more jigheads than many have all together. If I didn’t make my own heads Jerry is where I’d buy them. I’d recommend Gates but he’s done retired.

Spincast does come out cleaner. Bugman does that and I’ve never had to trim his heads. Fixin to order up from him again myself, really like the axe and wedge heads.

While that is true as far as seems and such, but the hand pour is a smoother finish. I had a special mold made for my kiptail jigs and they were poured first by hand and later he changed to spin casting because it's faster. I found them just fine, but a rougher finish and they were lighter by weight! So I just was not a big fan of spin casting for that reason and Paul's (Grousefly) heads hardly ever needed much cleaning. Now I have in my history bought heads from others that were hand poured and needed a ton of cleaning, that is not good! So think hand pour needing cleaning depend on the guy doing the pouring! Just my 2 cents.

I have hand poured for years, many years. LOL But have had pour sessions where i fought for clean clean pours with the same molds that worked great to weeks before. I chalked it up to metallurgy changes or maybe humidity. Don't really know for sure.

That’s my experience too Grumpy. Sometimes my production molds with 7 or 8 cavities just don’t cooperate. I wind up using half the cavities just to get some poured. Having them candled hopes sometimes but not always.
