Default We all tie a little different

And these were winners for me on Sunday. The bare head on the right is the one like I used. The painted head is an experiment, the middle is another and the two on the right are a 1/64 with a collar that I cut the barb off of and just used a thread collar. I expect they’ll do as well as the ones with the chenille. Red fox squirrel tail hair and 70 denier thread. I know, I broke it twice. I brought home 14 fish and posted about it on the panfish forum. All on #8 sickles and the three on the right are my favorite 1/43 head. Hope this helps someone get a few more, tight lines…. Skeet Name: 952E9E73-D9A5-41A8-B253-D35FCDD8581E.jpg

Sorry, the two on the left have the collars I spoke of. I was ready for bed and didn’t proof read. The tails are a little long too but they were kinda rushed. I’ll try some shorter ones this evening.

The first time I saw a fox squirrel I wasn’t sure what I was seeing. It was standing on it’s back legs and looked like a meerkat.

The ties are very nice. I may need to snip some road kill and see where that leads me. I appreciate you helping out. Thank you.
Maybe they will bite this one……

Skeet I use the collar quite oftenName: horsehead jig preped.jpg
Views: 363
Size: 22.8 KBbut I put a few random crimps in the collar to give me a little more holding power and the collar dictates my thread wrap length so I don't get to close to the hook point. Plus if you give it a small amount of extra squeeze while crimping it will lengthen the collar a small bit.

Grumpy, that’s great info. Never even thought of doing that but it will do exactly what you say it would. It takes a little bit of getting used to tying up on top of a shoulder like that but once you get used to it it’s a snap. They will balance a little different of course, but I’ve never seen one catch more than the other compared to a ball head. Thanks for the heads up.
