    Default New To Me Stuff

So I read a recent post and SuperDave mentioned Living Rubber legs. Sounded fun so I ordered me some and this morning gave them the old try. Well wasn’t long before I realized there just has to be some kind of trick to separating the legs from one another. Did a search and learned that you stretch them out....hard....and cut the ends off with sharp scissors in a slow and methodical fashion. BINGO

I am unsure if I have used too much skirting on these. A small amount might be a better choice. I definitely like adding these legs and plan to experiment some with the material. I saw where folks are using needles to push legs through jelly soft baits to add side legs. Tying legs for a collar. That really doesn’t leave much to be discovered now does it. Rear, middle and front kind of covers all the options.

On a side note my jig heads are seeming to do a little better with the revealed color crinkle effect.

A small amount of effect is appearing. I tried a heavier color coating, lighter coating, more crinkle, less crinkle, more heat, less heat, more time baking, less time baking. I like the green color but for trolling jigs I am thinking I would be better off with neon colors. These would be more for a dip and soak operation.

I have so many jigs now that most are destined to become gifts just to make them go away. A man sent me a message asking me to sell him some, but I think that there are some really skilled guys already selling and want them to get the business. I doubt there is a huge amount to be made tying jigs anyways. My fishing club members are all old timers and they might take pity on me and share secrets and stuff if I am real nice with free jigs and such. Hope so anyways.

As I discover all the things others are already doing, been doing, I wonder do they ever settle upon a best jig design and stick with it ?
Maybe they will bite this one……

Photo misses full effect but heads have spattered UV reflection. The orange of the eyes also reflects as does yellow chenille and the yellow/orange rubber skirt.

Nice! Yeah I find less is best. On the silicone legs I usually use around 10. That’s what works best for me. Think I sent you one with it for reference.

Been using those legs for years and really like the way they catch fish. Oh, less is more most of the time. The kids will love the ones you want to get rid of. I try to keep a couple small bags on hand when I see the kids and dad at boat ramp I give them a bag. Kids love free stuff.

I’ve done the spread from loaded like yours to as few as 6, and they all catch fish. Like the Dr said, about 10 works well on a 1/16 and 1/32 with a #4 hook. Your ties look good and will likely put fish in the box. Good color choices.

Another thing I do with some, I tie a lump of thread on the hook near where the hook point is. Put my silicon material on and tie over it to right in front of the thread that I put on the hook. Chenille the jig as you like. That thread that I put on the hook makes a nice spreader for the skirt.
