I kind of like these rubber and silicone legs. Yes I agree about 10 seems to be a nice mixture. I can see where the wild movement of fewer legs might make a difference. The stuffed look might be good too, as mentioned. As you can see I tried my hand at twisting the rubber legs and adding a small bead for a knob. Guess it might look like the little guy is swimming hard trying to get away.

I can see now that I need more of a yarn selection as it more than anything else makes up what is seen. I just hate buying the stuff called “fly tying chenille” because it is expensive. I will have to search about some and see what the ladies have been playing with and maybe get me some of that stuff. The microfiber mop material is excellent and ever since I discovered how to extract it in lengths have been using it mostly. One quick dip in the scent and it lasts all day. Kind of sucks it in deep.

Anyways thanks to SuperDave for mentioning Living Rubber and getting me interested in what they had available. I am thinking there is more to Jig Life than simply adding spinner blades. LOL

Yesterday a friend stopped by and brought some goodies. Her father is in North Cackalackie and in hospice. He wanted her to have his fishing stuff. Boats, reels and rods and such, and of course lures. Sorting through I discovered antique lures that still had their boxes and were in good shape. I told her that there was a market for such and that she really needed to remove them from the tackle boxes and store them properly. She remembers some of them from when she was a kid riding around in the boat with him. Anyways I didn’t want to cherry pick her stuff but she insisted I take a few items and fish with them. So I went for a few of the smaller Rapalas. The man liked to buy lures and store them, is all I can say.

I was interested in the two spoons as that is something I intend to explore very soon. There were only a handful of in line spinners, so I left those, but also intend to explore those as well.

I am thinking that the rubber legs will keep me busy for a while longer yet.
Maybe they will bite this one……

It’s OK. I do not require praise or encouragement, quite the opposite I assure you. I am here to explore and have fun. I like to share my dumb ideas and hope to discover something completely new. I want to build a jig the fish simply cannot sit and watch go by. Maybe there is such a jig and maybe there isn’t. I imagine some of the better fishermen have a short list they take with them. Maybe five types in several colors each type of deal. That is what I imagine anyways.

I am going to experiment with some of that UV resin goo stuff, metallic yarns, and work on my crimkle paint technique some more. Maybe I should start a new thread marked EXPERIMENTAL. LOL

In the pic with the baits, the two on the bottom right are balsa wood Bagley’s and may have some value. The strike king spinnerbaits, if they’re 1/8 oz or so, are one of my favorites. Some very nice stuff there.

Your jigs also look good, I’m waiting for the fish pictures to go along with em.
