Trick i found is little crinkle as possible and to do it all while jig is hot. Heat jig, dip in color/colors or tap on colors, then heat jig again, dip in crinkle and then heat jig again. I got so frustrated during the process with my fluid bed I scraped everything I was doing and started building a new one. Did do 3 jigs and what I came up with so far. To be continued with new fluid bed another day.

So, do you really need the "fluid bed"? I've been watching a bunch of videos and it seems that everyone is using them, but I'm not totally sure that it is needed if you keep the powder stirred up good!

I've been painting jigs for 30 years and never used a fluid bed. Usually stir after every half dozen jigs or so depending on head size.

The eyes have it Doc. I use a fluid bed now but for a lot of years I just would stir, stirring definitely works just fine. I do find that I have more consistent paint coating with the fluid bed and it speeds up the process some.
