So far all I’ve used and only color. If you ever have some thread showing that isn’t color of body then touch up with a sharpie.

I guess I’m outside the normal box, again. I try to hide my thread and use 210 on 1/16 and some 1/32. If I’m tying a thread neck on a smaller jig I’ll also use either 210 or 140. On the little ones with chenille I’ve been known to use 70 cuz I find it easier to hide. I’m heavy handed so it takes me some time to adjust and I also spread the bobbin out some for less tension to help keep from breaking the thread. To each his own.j

I guess I'm abnormal because for a 1/64 jig I use Uni thread in 6/0 or 8/0. I used to use the Danville 140 thread but the wax kept clogging my bobbins. The 210 builds up too fast for me and only use that with my bigger bass jigs. Only time I break thinner thread is when I get sloppy and hit the hook tip cutting the thread.

I like to match my thread with the chenille as best as you can, I also use 210 on 1/16 and up but prefer 140 on smaller jigs as well. Different colors of thread come in handy when you are making collars instead of using chenille and the 140 fly master plus come in many more colors than the 210.

Like JungleJimJigs and Skeetbum above I like to go with very low build up so 70 denier -- 8/0-- on almost everything. For my pine squirrel craws i go to 140 - 6/0 - but rarely bigger than that. I guess all the years of making trout flies leads me down the light, low build up route. That rope stuff just adds too much bulk IMO.
If you are using the larger size thread like 210 solely for strength know that 8/0 and a the smallest drop of super glue is almost always bullet proof. I will lose the jig to a underwater log well before my thread comes undone.
