Chased bass a long time back using buzz baits at night usually right after the spawn and right up against the bank. If you have never fished at night like that it's awesome!

I modified my crappie spin mold to take a buzz bait form on the 1/8, total weight after the buzz blade is 1/4 oz. Hooks are #1 Gamakatsu B10S stinger hooks. The white baits are made with possum zonkers and crosscut strips with flash and black baits are possum zonkers, flash and crosscut bunny strips. Wonder if a crappie will hit one of these once we get out of the deep freeze here, never caught a crappie on a buzz bait before.

I'm tempted with all the cold temps we've been getting. It's supposed to get -6F here Saturday.
Way too cold for me, heck it's getting to cold here as well, but our lows are going to be in the 20's, lol! I did stupid things like fishing in cold when I was still a young man and it was never fun!
We always had a lull after the spawn and then we discovered the buzz baits cast all the way to the bank made for some exciting nights in May!

I here ya Jim, Up here near the Quad Cities we are looking forward to 25 below Sunday morning. Not sure the buzz bait will be happy sliding across the ice. But they look good in the house for now,
